LCD or Touch screen not working
Jan 5 2008, 3:44 PM EST | Post edited: Jan 5 2008, 3:44 PM EST
After a hard reset, the LCD or touch screen does not respond. A screen display to align or calibrate also do not work.

Do I need to replace the LCD or are there other solutions to make the touch screen work ? Appreciate your help on this. Thanks

Same problem... Just happened today. I was playing solitaire, when an email came to one of my inboxes and the touchscreen all of a sudden stopped working. Have tried rebooting. I even tried a hard reset by taking the battery out and still nothing. All of the buttons funtion and Windows appears to respond to all of the external button on the MDA, I just cannot use the touchscreen.

Please Help!!!

I had this same problem....after a soft reset, the phone came back on the touch screen didn't work. I called Sprint Customer Support and they were telling me to a hard reset and all this stuff. I removed my clear LCD screen protector, did another soft reset, and magically the touch screen worked again. Sadly, I can't image this would work for everyone, but it worked for me.... 8  out of 16 found this valuable. Do you?

I've found most of the posts here quite accurate to what I'm experiencing, handed over my cell phone to my buddy to plug it in and charge it, about four hours later the monitor wouldnt even go back on. I had done a hard reset, and it doesn't get passed the Green/blue Windows Mobile screen. Although I've experimented, if I leave it there for a few hours, it eventually goes to the normal screen yet nothing on the screen functions, only the buttons on the bottom which are also screwing up on me.

I can see that this thread is EXTREMELY dated, so perhaps a solution to the issue would be necessary.

Thanks.

I had the same problem too - was in the middle of something last night and couldn't tap anywhere. Tried shutting it off, adjusting the sim card - nothing. So today it finally dawned on me that the reset button served a very useful purpose :-) It's working again but it's still pretty buggy. Not sure if that's a Windows problem or AT&T but I haven't had the phone for very long. 5  out of 9 found this valuable. Do you?

I had the same issue, and I have resolve my LCD Freeze, Here are the steps:
1- poweron the devices and hold it Horizantally and gentely hammer it on the carpet about 3 hit.
2- do that on the 4 sides of the device.
that will re-seat the lcd connectivity which had been slide due to a fall earlier.

This man is right, that is the same as me saying

"the easiest way to fix it is by putting it in a Ziploc bag filled with sand and water and throwing it under a moving car"

By all means, go for it, although i strongly DO NOT recommend it, for those who cant sense sarcasm!

I'm also facing the same problem. It happen while I'm uninstalling software and there was an incoming call, and what I did was rejected it. After restarted (prompted after uninstallation), the touch panel / screen is no more working, and the message of missed call appearing everytime I soft reset, hard reset, restart after removed & replaced battery. Have tried everything I can...

I found this from the other website:"Comment by c_bsportz, posted on Jul 15, 2008 - Hold the red and green soft buttons down while hitting the master reset on the bottom with the stylus. It works I tried it last night the only problem is ur gonna lose all the data u have saved on ur phone this will reset it the same way it was when u purchased the phone."

Think this is the last way...

Hi......
I had the same problem with my handset, the touch screen would not work.
I just picked out the screen protector using a blade, and fixed it again.
and it started working fine.
Its worth a try for

My phone would get stuff on the windows mobile screen. After about 3 hours, the actual screen displayed, but the touch screen stopped working. I held down red and green soft buttons while hitting the master reset on the bottom with the stylus. Instead of accepting to restore to the machine defaults, I canceled the action (hit the camera button), and it restarted just fine. 7  out of 8 found this valuable. Do you?

I had a stubborn version of the dead touchscreen problem. Screen was dead this morning upon power-up and no combination of hard or soft resets made any difference. Removed screen protector (which had worked fine for a year) and cleaned out seam of screen too - still no change. Ten days past warranty expiration - figures!! Eventually I concluded there was nothing left to try but a ROM upgrade, even though I didn't expect that to help... IT DID!! I'm a Bell customer in Canada, so I downloaded the latest Bell ROM from here: http://www.htc.com/us/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=70&act=sd&cat=all and did the install. Lo and behold - touchscreen working like new!!! My original version was factory 1.<xxxx> and newest was 3.<xxxx>. Fix cost me a day of surfing, but better than $400!! Thanks to all here for the other suggestions. 5  out of 7 found this valuable. Do you?

Thanks for the great tip about lifting the screen protector! This all began as a small spot on the screen that can only be seen when the screen is off. I was having an issue where the lcd screen kept pressing by itself. For example when I was making a call the number 7 would keep dialing over an over again. When I was on the main screen it seemed to not respond to any touch (this is because it was continuously pressing in the same section). At times when the phone was locked I could not unlock it. I took the advice of lifting the screen protector and now it is fixed. 7  out of 9 found this valuable. Do you?

this happened to me as well. it was determined that the car charger for the phone somehow disrupts the system in the phone - i was advised not to use the charger 5  out of 8 found this valuable. Do you?
